Our beloved Lance Isaiah Carrington departed this life on January 14, 2025, at the age of 17. Though his time with us was far too short, Lance touched countless lives with his bright smile, kind and compassionate heart, and boundless playful energy.
Lance Isaiah Carrington was born on August 27, 2007, in Columbia, Maryland, to Jeffrey and Daishelle Carrington. Lance was a beacon of joy to everyone who knew him. He had a passion for connecting with people and his enthusiasm was contagious to those around him.
Lance had a remarkable ability to bring people together-whether through his humor, kindness or simply his presence. He cherished time with his family, created unforgettable memories with friends, and loved roughhousing with his loyal dog, Queen, who adored him unconditionally. He was a kindred spirit to animals he encountered and to those who encountered him.
Like his father, Lance had a love for cars and a natural talent for understanding how things worked-especially iPhones and computers. He shared a deep and special bond with his mother, expressing his love with hugs and "I love yous" every day since he was 3 or 4 years old. Lance and his sister, Sydney, shared a humor that was uniquely their own, spending hours laughing at inside jokes only they understood. Even when others joined in, it was never quite the same. Lance loved candy-especially cinnamon-flavored candies like his grandmother.
Lance was educated in Howard County Public Schools and during his time he inspired and was loved by his teachers and counselors. As a little boy, he showed an eagerness to learn and experience new things. He played the piano, the violin, his favorite video games, and could be found rooting for his home teams the Baltimore Ravens and Orioles. "Are you ready for some football?!"
Lance leaves behind a family who cherished him deeply: his loving mother, Daishelle Monique Carrington; his devoted father, Jeffrey H. Carrington; his sister, Sydney Danielle Carrington; and brother, Jordan Carrington-Gibbs; and his three nieces, Amarley, Niovi, and Naya Gibbs. He is also survived by his beloved maternal grandmother, Patricia A. Rogers – affectionately known as Grammy; his maternal grandfather Marvis Pollock, Jr.; two paternal grandparents who preceded him in death, the late Dr. Russell Carrington and Barbara A. Carrington.
He also leaves behind two uncles Donald Burris, and Stephen Carrington (Jill); two uncles who preceded him in death Marvis Montrell Pollock and Marvis Pollock, III; one aunt, Pamela Randall (Louis); his favorite cousins he grew up with Jawaun, Kayla, Jaylyn, and Jamarr; his older cousin Isaiah and his friend Deonte who were held dear to Lance's heart as big brothers; and a host of great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins, and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts. Late great-grandparents: Marvis Pollock Sr. & Mary Pollock, Daniel H. & Annie Rogers, Mamie Ebbs & Buck Gaither.
Lance was a young man of faith, strength, curiosity, and compassion. His life, though brief, was filled with love, laughter, and the light of Christ. Lance dedicated his life to Jesus at age 13 and was baptized on February 1, 2020, at New Psalmist Baptist Church by Bishop Walter S. Thomas, Sr. His memory will remain a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew him. Rest peacefully, Lance. You are deeply loved and will be forever missed, but we take comfort in knowing that you are now in the arms of our Heavenly Father.
