Lance Fraze

1962 - 2024

Funeral services for Lance Fraze, 62, will be held at 10:00 AM, Wed., Sept. 18, 2024 in the Wheeler Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Tyler Eanes officiating. Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with Gary Fraze, Lyle Fraze, Brent Corbin, Morgan Fraze, Rocky Tivis, and Mike Terry serving as pallbearers. Wesley Fraze, Wade Fraze, Scott Buzard, Kelly McClary, Carson Fraze, Garret Fraze and Jaryn Corbin have been named as honorary pallbearers.

Lance Darren Fraze was born April 7, 1962 in Portales, NM to the home of Carolyn Dean (Varnell) and Herbert Eugene Fraze, and died early on the morning of Sept. 7, 2024 in Chandler, AZ. Lance grew up in the Portales community, and was a 1980 graduate of Floyd High School. While he was in school he was an outstanding basketball player and dairy judge for the FFA team. Outside of school he participated and excelled in Junior rodeos.

After graduating, Lance began working at dairies, and eventually worked his way up to Dairy Manager. He was so connected to his cows that he knew each one, and where they belonged and what their individual schedules were. He dedicated his life to the dairies that he worked at throughout Texas and Eastern New Mexico. Lance's life was devoted to his work and his family. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed attending the many sporting events when they were playing. He loved all sports and watched them whenever he had an opportunity.

He is survived by three sons, Brand Fraze of Dexter, NM, Tyler Fraze and Chance and Ashley Fraze of San Marcos, TX; a daughter, Brenna Fraze of Denver, CO; five grandchildren, Kambri, Addyson, Dakota, Owen and Micah Fraze and another to be born in January 2025; his mother, Carolyn Fraze of Portales; two brothers, Gary and Sara Fraze of Sulfur Springs, TX and Lyle and Aundra Fraze of Portales; and a sister, Sherry and Brent Corbin of Chandler, AZ. He was preceded in death by his father, Gene Fraze who died Sept. 30, 1990.
