Beverly "Lance" Yost, age 78, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 24, 2025 at St. Mary's Hospital in
Huntington, WV following a long illness.
Born in Bishop, VA on October 19, 1947, Lance was the son of the late Beverly Bruce and Wanda Ruth Pruett Yost.
He was a proud graduate of Tazewell High School's Class of 1966 and went on to earn an undergraduate degree from Bluefield State College in 1976 and a Master's degree from Luther Rice seminary in 1985.
A man of great integrity and kindness, Lance dedicated his life to serving others. He was a retired minister, having touched countless lives through his ministry. His sermons were known for their insight and inspiration, and he was a beloved spiritual leader in the community. He pastored the following churches: Calvary Baptist in
War, WV; Bluewell Baptist in Bluewell, VA; First Baptist in
Hinton, WV; First Baptist in
Kenova, WV; First Baptist in
Beckley, WV; First Baptist in
Woodstock, VA; Weatherford Baptist in
Richmond, VA; Janke Road Baptist in
Richmond, VA. After he retired from his ministry, he managed Pleasant Valley Memorial Gardens in
Martinsburg, WV. Lance also served on the President's advisory board at Alderson Broaddus College.
Prior to his ministry, Lance proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. His military service instilled in him a strong sense of discipline and leadership that he carried throughout his life.
Lance enjoyed watching movies and spending time with his dog Bentley. He loved his family deeply and will be remembered for his warmth, his generous spirit, and his unwavering faith.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sandra Yost.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Thomas Yost (Sarah) of Bedford, VA; step-daughters, Kimberly Toth (James) of Pt. Pleasant, WV and Kelly Brogan (Jim) of Athens, WV; grandchildren, Anna Yost, Alexa England (Zane), Cole McCormack (Catie), Savannah Lidel (Matt), Chandler Haga (Tyler), Tyler Ellison, Kelsey Reynolds (Keith), and Katey Blankenship (Mark); great grandchildren, Maddox Ellison, Adeline and Nora Reynolds, Lincoln, Langley, Boston, and Lynex England, Ryder, Blayke, Saylor, and Suttyn McCormack, Cambreigh Simpson, Leighton Lidel, Gemma Garwood, Penelope Blankenship, and Deacon Haga.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ronald Cobb officiating. Entombment will follow at Greenbrier Burial Park Mausoleum in
Hinton, WV. Friends may visit from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home.
