Larae Faith Stevens, 65, of St. Charles died Thursday evening, May 2, 2024 in the Palliative Care Unit at Rochester Methodist Hospital. Larae was born October 15, 1958 in Winona to Rowland and Elinor (Deck) Koetz. They lived in Lewiston until moving to St. Charles in 1969. Larae graduated from St. Charles High School in 1976 with honors. She and Randy Stevens were married May 28, 1977 in St. Charles, where they made their home. Larae worked part-time for Wolter Lumber and the St. Charles Sanitary District while also working alongside Randy at Stevens Electronics. Later, she joined Randy full-time until retirement. Children and grandchildren were the joys of her life. Her family and their needs always came before her own. Larae was known for her huge heart and gentle soul. She loved with everything she had and made sure that those around her knew it. Larae enjoyed traveling, sewing and cross stitching when she wasn't spending time with her kids or playing with and cheering on her grandkids in all they did. In their retirement, Larae and Randy have enjoyed traveling and spending part of their winters with their son Jared and sister Patti/John Crooks in Florida.
Survivors include her husband, Randy; three children, Miranda (Eric) Manley of St. Charles, Jenna (Scott) Christenson of Plymouth, and Jared (Ciara Robinson) of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Gavin, Kade, Tessa, Bryce, Raegan Faith, Aiden, and Kyla Larae; her siblings, Connie Luce of Rochester; Dewaine Koetz (Bonnie Enright) of Mesa, AZ, Shawn (Debra) Koetz of St. Charles, Charlann (Jerry) Thompson of Rochester, Renda Meloy of Rochester, Chad Koetz (Peggy Davidson) of Plainview; and her in-laws, Patti (John) Crooks of Jacksonville Beach, FL, Terry (Janel) Stevens of Cape Coral, FL, and Tom Stevens of Sandy, UT. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister-in-law, and a brother-in-law.
A funeral service for Larae will be 10 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2024 at Faith Lutheran Church in St. Charles with Pastor Shawn Brooks officiating. A celebration of Larae’s life/ open house will follow at the church until 2 p.m. Hoff Funeral Service of St. Charles is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations will be used for a memorial gift to the charity of the families choosing.
