LaRey West of South Weber passed away September 10, 2025, after a long illness. She was 87.

LaRey was born on October 17, 1937, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Elsie and Carl Krauth. She was the youngest of three children. LaRey went on to graduate from West High School and was married to Ronald Finkelstein in 1954. LaRey and Ron had one child, a daughter named Elissa before divorcing.

LaRey married Gene West of Arkansas in September of 1958, and they made their home in Bountiful for many years. During this time, LaRey worked for over 20 years at First National Bank and had many memorable trips to Arkansas, and the Uintah Mountains.

LaRey was a special grandma well known and beloved by her grandchildren. She was always willing to help and a pleasure to be around. LaRey loved cats, to read, and the Christmas holiday as she had an impressive collection of snowmen.

LaRey is survived by her daughter Elissa Maughan and four grandchildren: Tyler Maughan (Shelley), Marnee Holbrook (Cody), Alyse Johanssen (Zach), and Mikell Schone (Michael), and 12 great-grandchildren.

LaRey will be greatly missed for her smiling wit and the constant she was in our lives.
