Laroy Aldridge Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Roberson Funeral Home & Crematory - Port Charlotte on Mar. 30, 2026.
Laroy Aldridge, Sr., of Port Charlotte, Florida, who was born May 15, 1933, passed peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of his family, on Thursday, March 26, 2026.

Laroy was born in Detroit, Alabama, and was raised in Mississippi. He was one of ten children born to Emory Ward and Allie Mae Aldridge (Irving). Throughout his life, he carried strong values of family, dedication, and hard work. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. After his service, Laroy married the love of his life, Evelyn Aldridge Davis (1930–2001). Together they built a life filled with love and family, eventually settling in Joliet, Illinois, where Laroy worked for the EJ&E Railroad and Seneca Petroleum His career with the railroad reflected his strong work ethic and commitment to providing for those he loved. Laroy and Evelyn raised a large and loving family. He was a devoted husband and father who took great pride in his children and the life they built together. In retirement, Laroy and Evelyn moved to Florida (1985), where he spent his later years surrounded by family and the comfort of home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emory Ward and Allie Mae Aldridge; his siblings Jewel, Buell, Doyle, Emory Jr., Leo, Leon, and Wayne Aldridge, and his sister, Nelavie Brown; his beloved wife, Evelyn Aldridge Davis (1930–2001); his devoted daughter, Pamela Jean Frain (1957–2020); and one great-grandchild, Soren.

Laroy is survived by his loving sister, Geneva Kimble, and by the family he cherished so deeply. His children include William Joseph (Patti) Davis, Richard Dean Davis, Sandra (Harold) Coleman, Laroy (Caryn) Aldridge Jr., Linda (Bill) Scharringhausen), Sueanna Smith, and Anna (Tom) Aldridge; 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, extended family members, and loved ones who will continue to honor his memory.

Laroy will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and proud veteran whose life was defined by love for his family and dedication to those around him. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Visitation will be held Wednesday 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM April 1, 2026, at Roberson Funeral Home Port Charlotte Chapel. Graveside Services and military honors will follow at 2:00 PM at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Port Charlotte, Florida.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Tidewell Hospice team for their compassionate care, kindness, and support, which brought comfort and dignity during his final days.
