Mr. Larry Gray Atkins, age 82 of Ararat, NC, passed away at his home on Tuesday evening October 22, 2024. He was born in Surry County on August 10, 1942, to the late Clandis Wilson and Violet Fulk Atkins. He was a retired owner/operator truck driver. Mr. Atkins is survived by his siblings, Shirley and Gilmer Dollarhite, and Daryll and Betty Atkins; many nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Rita Atkins, Helen Easter, and Debbie Atkins; special friends, Mitchell Wright, James Bowman, JW Henson; and several other family and friends. In addition to his parents. Mr. Atkins was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Carol Jean Atkins Marion Atkins; sister, Rita Atkins Nichols; and brothers, Lonnie, CW, and Bruce Atkins. Funeral services will be held Friday October 25, 2024, at 2:00pm in the Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with Rev. James Collins, Rev. Dale Johnson, and Rev. Butch Holder officiating. Burial will follow in the Rock Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday at the funeral home from 12:00pm to 2:00pm. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
