A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away on July 8, 2024 at the age of 73 in Minnetonka, MN. Larry was born in Detroit, Michigan to Marion and Morris Baill. His life was filled with the people he loved - his wife, Sue Colby; children, Laura and Michael (Abby); grandson, Benny; brother, Jeffrey (Heidi); sister, Barbara (Lee); sister-in-law, Marilyn (Jeff); a fan club of nieces and nephews, and a myriad of cousins.
Larry graduated from the University of Michigan undergrad and the University of MN law school. He was the founding partner of Yost and Baill and as much as he enjoyed the law, he got equal pleasure from the many friends he made through his work. He was on the Bar Association Ethics committee, a founding member of the Association of Subrogation Professionals, served on the JCC Board, and was an active volunteer for USTA Northern.
Larry was the personification of fun and friendship. He was a friend collector and connector. Wherever Larry went he made friends and took great joy in connecting them to each other. He was known as the social hub; always up for a pickleball game, tennis match, poolside gathering, or diet coke with friends. He threw the best parties - be it a klezmer band supplemented with State Fair food or fire-breathing bartenders at a birthday party - every gathering was memorable and generous. Larry was the meaning of the word mensch.
Memorial service 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 11th at TEMPLE ISRAEL, 2323 Fremont Avenue South, Minneapolis. Shiva 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at Larry and Susan's home. Gathering of family and friends 7:00 p.m. on Friday, also at Larry and Susan's home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Second Harvest Heartland, The Minnesota JCC Sabes Center, or a food bank of your choice.
Larry's family is so grateful to all of his caregivers, especially Gifty and Madison, who helped them get through these past two years with such love and grace. Memorial service is available on zoom: www.hodroffs.com/LarryBaill
