Larry Edmond Ball, 79, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 8, 2026. Larry was born on October 26, 1946 to the late Ralph Edmond Ball and Rosa Lee White Ball. He was a 1965 graduate of West Forsyth High School and a proud Vietnam era veteran. Larry retired from Norfolk Southern Railway and enjoyed sharing fond memories of his time there and of his time working in commercial construction. He never met a stranger and made friends wherever he went. Throughout his many health challenges Larry displayed an exceptional drive and zeal for life.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Scotty Ball; sisters, Betty Jean Ball Byerly (Ken), Mary Ann Ball Earls (Buddy); brother-in-law, James Ray Flynn.
He is survived by his son, Derek Ball; sister, June Flynn; nephews, Ray Flynn (Denise), Jeff Flynn (Christine), Art Nifong (Myrna); special friend, Virginia Phillips; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at Yadkin Valley Baptist Church officiated by Pastor Ronnie Craddock and Pastor Nick Decker, with burial to follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service. Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel is assisting the family.
