Larry Benzick Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Stoess Funeral Home on Mar. 8, 2024.
Larry pulled his cowboy hat over his eyes for the last time this side of heaven that Tuesday morning, when Jesus took his hand, nodded and said "Well done " and they rode together back to his eternal heavenly home.
Larry was one of the truly unforgettable walks of life that changed every room he walked into and every person he met. He touched and genuinely welcomed every person he met with love and laughter, an encouraging word, and a great big bear hug. He loved the Lord and he was courageous in sharing the love and hope of Jesus. He loved people from ALL walks of life. from the Board Room to the sidewalk. He had the very unique gift of knowing how to "give more of himself by taking less from others".
Larry and Darlene were inseparable and lived a "fairy tale love story" with their "oneness" and unbreakable love for one another. Their foundation was Jesus no debate plain and simple. Their sons Tony, Patrick, and Nick, were loved their by their Dad deeply and always viewed him as their giant but gentle "Superhero". He certainly lived up to that in his "larger the life" walk in his days on this earth. Larry had the strength of a lion, but was gentle as a lamb in his love for his wife and family and friends.
He loved his Man Challenge friends (bible study) and worshipped our great God without abandon with his beloved church family at Southeast Christian in Crestwood. At Sunday service, he was the known for raising his cowboy hat in praise (the ONLY time he would remove his hat was to praise Jesus.)
EVERY Sunday, after the hustle and bustle of getting ready for church, he would say in the car on the way "Enter His gates with Praise and Thanksgiving"....well, I am certain he did just that!
Those who are left here on earth to miss him greatly until they are reunited in heaven are his wife (Darlene), his brother (Dave Benzick), his children, Tony (Rebecca), Patrick (Dana), and Nick (McKenna), grandchildren Raylan and Evy and niece and nephew, Ryan and Taylor, great nieces, Mya and MaKenna and his gift daughter/niece, Grace, his "brother from another mother" Darryl Jones, and many others who loved him. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, John and Reba Benzick and his granddaughter, Abrayah.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that you make donations to Connie's Crusaders, (conniescrusaders.org) or Bellewood and Brooklawn Childrens home, (bellewoodandbrooklawn.org/donate).

Larry was a lot of great things. Can't even capture everything in this paragraph. But my most favorite and most honorable moment with Larry is when he ask me to do the honor of being his BEST MAN at his wedding to Darlene. I was over the moon to stand beside him as he married his love!!
Sincerely, Carla Bolin
