Larry Bothum passed peacefully away surrounded by the love of his family Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at his home in Pine City at the age of 81.
Larry Duane Bothum was born August 19, 1944, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, to Mentor and Irene (Rovang) Bothum. In 1964, he married Judy Austin. June 6, 1964, marked the beginning of their adventures and a 61-year journey together.
Larry spent 28 years working for John Deere in Bloomington, Minnesota. He, Judy, and their children treasured their time at the family cabin in Pine City, where they built countless memories. After retirement, Pine City became their full-time home, and they also enjoyed spending winters in Mission, Texas.
A husband, father, and friend, Larry was known for his humor and love of life. He enjoyed traveling, buying and selling cars, playing cards, celebrating every occasion, and spending time with those he loved most. Whether exploring new places or gathering around a card table sharing stories and laughter, Larry cherished every moment with family and friends.
Larry is survived by his wife of 61 years, Judy Bothum of Pine City; daughters Nancy (Bert) Williams, Cindy (Rick) Stolp all of Pine City, Nicole (Shawn) Casey of Waconia; grandchildren Brandon, Charlotte, Dustin, Michael, Dalton, Nathan, Ashley, Nick, Justin, Liam, and Áine; great-grandchildren; and furry companion Bella. His family and many friends will deeply miss him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mentor and Irene Bothum; sisters Karen Baker and Marlys Opheim; and grandson Brian.
He will be remembered for his strong Norwegian heritage and the characteristics of a middle child. His legacy of love and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
The family extends a special thank you to Burnett Medical Center Skilled Nursing and St. Croix Hospice for their care and compassion.
