Larry Richard Boyd Sr., 82, of Belle Vernon, died Tuesday, February 27, 2024. Born in Webster on March 7, 1941, he was the son of the late Lewis W. and Josephine (Nichols) Boyd.
Larry was a retired School Bus Driver for the BVA School District. He also worked for Weiss Meats in Webster and Pleasant Hills. He was a 74-year member of the Salvation Army, Monessen Corps. For over 60 years, he was an active local officer for the Corps and was a Sergeant Major. Larry was a Biblical Scholar and Theologian and was the Adult Sunday School Teacher. In 2005 he was honored as The Salvationist of the Year. Larry and his wife, Grace, were the "heart and soul" of the Monessen Corps. Larry was a great dancer and enjoyed going on vacations. He was also a 50-year member of Tri-County Lodge No.252 F&AM Donora.
He is survived by his wife, Grace G. (Aldous) Boyd; children, Larry R. Boyd Jr. of Rostraver, Laura Feeney of Monessen and Christopher L. (Constance) Boyd of Belle Vernon; grandchildren, Richie Williams, Erika Williams, Deven Feeney, Tawni Feeney, Asher Boyd, Emma Boyd and Crystal Jackson; great grandchildren, Jaden Cain, Richard Williams, Novalee Williams, Noah Williams and Jason McKenna; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Leigh Ryan Boyd; brother, Bernard Boyd; nieces, Marcy Tomay and Kathy Blazevich; and great nephew, Jeffrey Tomay.
Friends will be received on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the James C. Stump Funeral Home Inc., 580 Circle Drive, Rostraver Township (724-929-7934) www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com where a Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. with Envoy Michael Jung officiating. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery.
