Larry Alan Brinneman

Larry Alan Brinneman, 69, known to most as simply "Larry" and to some as "the most loving, thoughtful, selfless guy in a 50-mile radius," passed away on August 8, 2023, in Florence, KY, surrounded by his loving family, a far cry from the cornfields of his birthplace, Bluffton, IN. Larry was the type of guy who could find humor in the most mundane of things, and it is in that spirit that we remember his extraordinary life.
Larry's education was as impressive as his collection of Hawaiian shirts. He attended the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, where he made the grim subject of death a little less daunting with his light-heartedness. His wit was only matched by his intelligence, as evidenced by the Charles O. Dhonau Memorial Award for highest excellence in Embalming Technology, the Dr. George M. Sleichter Award for outstanding scholastic achievement, and the James C. Lyerly Management Award he received. Those are a lot of awards, but let's be honest, Larry could embalm a ham sandwich if he had to.
Larry was not the type of guy to rest on his laurels. He had over 200 continuing education hours under his belt, making him the most educated man this side of the Mississippi. Well, at least in the realm of mortuary science. He was also the Founder and Co-Owner of Alliance Funeral Home & Cremation Center. The only thing Larry loved more than a good joke was his job, and he brought a sense of humor to an often-somber industry.
Larry's interests were as varied as the colors in a sunset. He loved gardening, not because he had a green thumb, but because he liked the idea of playing God with plants. Bird watching was another hobby of his. He often joked that if he were a bird, he'd be a flamingo - because who doesn't want to stand on one leg all day and eat shrimp? Building things was a passion of his, from birdhouses for his feathered friends to sandcastles at the beach. Larry loved spending time with friends, meeting new people, and going to the beach. He was a social butterfly with a love for the sun, sand, and sea.
Larry is survived by his daughter, Savannah, who inherited his sense of humor and love for the beach. His grand dog, Sofie, will miss their long walks and endless games of fetch. Charlotte, the mother of Savannah, his brother David (Rita) Brinneman, cousins and Larry's business partner, Kim Vossmeyer, will remember him fondly for his kindness and unwavering support.
Larry is predeceased by his parents Priscilla and Franklin Brinneman, and many aunts and uncles.
To sum up Larry would be like trying to count the stars - impossible. He was a loving father, a thoughtful friend, a selfless individual, and a beacon of light in the often-dark world of mortuary science. He was the kind of guy who could make you laugh at a funeral and find joy in the simplest things.
So, as we say goodbye to Larry, let's remember him not with sadness, but with a smile. After all, he would have wanted us to find the humor in this situation. So, here's to Larry - the man who could embalm a ham sandwich, make a flamingo envious, and light up a room with his laughter. You will be missed, but your spirit will live on in every joke told, every plant grown, and every bird watched.

Gathering of Friends will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023, from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM at Alliance Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 7816 Dixie Highway, Florence, KY.
