Larry Bynum Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Tutor Funeral Home - Magee on Mar. 18, 2026.
Larry Bynum passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026, at Wesley Medical Center, surrounded by his family. He was born on July 6, 1957, to Lavon Bynum and Ora Lee Blair Bynum in Simpson County.

After graduating from Magee High School, he married his high school sweetheart, Teresa Barone. They had a 48-year marriage marked by love, kindness, and deep-seated faith.

Larry was a proud father to his two daughters, Brandi Bynum and Candace Bynum Knupp (Michael). His role as a grandfather was one he treasured deeply, and he leaves behind five grandchildren: Lawson Barnes, Greyson Knupp, Raven Bynum, Fayelan Bynum, and LilyAnne Bynum. His love and guidance will continue to shine in their lives. Larry was a cherished brother to Glenda B. Lucky, Elaine Tanksley (Louis), his brother Calvin Bynum and last but not least, his beloved dog, Lady.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lavon and Ora Lee Bynum, and his in-laws, Joe Barone and Patsy Barone.

Larry's love for the outdoors was a form of therapy, finding God's presence in the beauty of nature, whether he was on his tractor, tending to his garden, or simply cutting grass. An avid fan of Westerns, especially those featuring John Wayne, and shows like 'Curse of Oak Island,' he found joy and relaxation in these simple pleasures. One of his hobbies was hunting, where he enjoyed the peaceful time to reflect and be grateful for all his blessings, especially his family. He eagerly anticipated upcoming family reunions, where he could reconnect with loved ones and share in the joy of fellowship. He also enjoyed the old hymns.

He took great pride in his family and approached everything he did with a full heart. His loving, kind, and faith-filled nature was evident to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He will be remembered as a pillar of strength, a beacon of love, and an example of a life well-lived.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Tutor Funeral Home in Magee, MS, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Friday, March 20, at Tutor Funeral Home with Bro. Andy Gipson and C.A. Smith officiating.
