Larry Carson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by St. Mary Cemetery & Funeral Center on Jan. 29, 2026.
Larry James Carson passed away peacefully on January 21, 2026, surrounded by his girls. He was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, caring brother and treasured friend.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Marsha Carson; daughters Tera (Steve) and Tricia (Keith); and grandchildren Alexa, Keith Jr., Carson, and Nolan, who affectionately called him "Babbo". He was preceded in death by his parents, Rose and Bill Carson.

Larry grew up in Sacramento and was the second of five children: Doug, Frank, Dina, and John. He graduated from Bishop Armstrong Catholic High School (now Christian Brothers High School) in 1968 and began a fourteen-year career with Bel Air Market. Through dedication and hard work, he advanced through various roles, ultimately becoming grocery manager. Following this period, Larry partnered with his brother Frank to launch Carson Landscape, which they successfully co-operated for eleven years. He later joined Saint Francis High School as Plant Manager, where he dedicated twenty years of service before retiring.

Larry proudly served his country for six years in the Army National Guard as a Reservist and Military Policeman, a role that reflected his strong sense of duty, discipline, and commitment to service.

A man of many talents, Larry was an exceptional cook who took great pride in preparing meals for family and friends. Larry developed a love for cooking from his Italian mother and took pride in his meals. His kitchen was a gathering place, and sharing food was one of the many ways he showed his love. He was also a skilled woodworker who generously passed his talents on to his sons-in-law, grandchildren, and friends. Larry also enjoyed playing cards with his extended family, valuing the laughter and connection those moments brought.

An avid golfer, Larry was a longtime member of Valley Hi Country Club, where he formed lasting friendships. He especially treasured golf trips to Scotland and Ireland and the camaraderie the game brought into his life.

Above all, Larry was a family man. He was deeply proud of his daughters, respected his sons-in-law, and found great joy in his grandchildren. He also cherished his extended family and the many friendships he built throughout his life. His family and friends were truly the center of his world.

Larry will be remembered for his kindness, strong work ethic, love of good food, sense of humor/sarcasm, deep faith in God, pride in his Italian heritage, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. His legacy lives on through the family and friends whose lives he touched.
