Memorial services for Mr. Larry William Clegg, 79, of Glen Allan, MS who passed away early morning on Friday August 22nd, 2025 will be held at 3 pm on Monday August 25th, 2025 at Deer Creek Baptist Church in Rolling Fork, MS. The family will receive friends from1pm until service time. Brother Penley Sorrels will be officiating.
Larry was born to Hubert and Geneva Clegg in Wynne, AR on February 1st, 1946. Larry was a hard working man that spent the first half of his life running a welding and machine shop where he was known to be able to build or repair virtually anything. He was credited with building the famous radio tower portrayed in the movie "O'Brother Where Art Thou". It was said that he could weld anything but the crack of dawn and a broken heart.
In the later years, he was able to break away from the welding business and focus his time on doing what he loved the most, being a Cowboy. He was happiest when he was on the levee bailing hay, mending fence, or working cows. He made a lot of great memories with his family and friends cowboying where he always felt closest to his Lord. He was truly an old cowboy trapped in the modern world.
In the past 10 years or so, Larry enjoyed serving on the board of directors for the Black Bayou Water Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife: Barbara Clegg of Glen Allan, MS, two children: Melinda Hill of Fayetteville, AR and Brian Clegg (Amanda) of Wolf Lake, MS, three siblings: Peggy Sanders of Morgan City, LA, Connie Stafford of DAyton, TX, and Cindy Pulliam (Bruce) of Louisville, KY, as well as three grandchildren: Sara Kaitlyn, Drake, and Cheyenne... all of which who will miss him dearly.
Good Ride Cowboy, Good Ride!
Donations in his memory can be made to Deer Creek Baptist Church 82 4th Street Rolling Fork, MS 39159
