Passed away peacefully, March 10, 2026, at the age of 83 in Sunfield, Michigan. Born on December 5, 1942, in Marshall, Michigan to the late Paul and Fay (De Cant) Coats. Larry's life was one marked by dedication, service, and joy for the simple pleasures in life.

Larry joined the United States Navy in 1961 where he proudly served his country. After his honorable discharge Larry dedicated decades of his life to working for General Motors. Beyond his professional life, Larry was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 701 and a member of the American Legion Post 225.

He had an undeniable love for working on his Ford Broncos. He often had a wrench in hand and a smile on his face, as he was always tinkering with an engine or fixing something that needed repair. Larry found solace in the quiet moments spent watching old Westerns, fishing, and golfing. Above all, Larry was a family man. Despite his stubborn streak-a trait that often came with a twinkle in his eye-he always put his family first.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Sr. and Faye Coats, his stepmother Darlene Coats, a brother Paul Coats, sisters Jane, Mary and Phyllis, and his son Brian Coats.

He is survived by his devoted daughter, Connie (Richard) Snover; brothers, Robert (Tina) Coats, Andy (Linda) Weaver, a sister Debbie Farmer, a daughter-in-law Karie Coats; granddaughters, Jessica (Allie) Marsh, Sierra (Matthew) Thomas, Ruby Galloway, Emma Galloway; grandsons, Jacob (Andrea) Snover, Michael (Andrea) Snover, and Dylan Snover; great-grandchildren, Alisyn Miles, Gabriel Snover, Rosalyn Thomas, and Waylon Thomas, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Palmer Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Homes, 6301 W. St. Joe Highway, Lansing, with Chaplain Steve Ezop officiating. Military Honors will be rendered by the VFW Post 701. Visitation will be held on Saturday beginning at 11:00 AM until the time of service. Memorials may be made to Sparrow Hospice in memory of Larry.
