Larry Dale Coder, 84, of Marion, Iowa, was reunited with the Lord on Sunday, February 16, 2025. A celebration of life gathering will be held at a later date. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.
Larry was born on June 26, 1940, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Howard and Iva (Peden) Coder. He grew up in Toddville, then Anamosa, helping work the farm and making mischief with his brothers. Larry played sports, the cornet, was a member of the FFA and enjoyed riding his horse, Prince. Throughout his life, Larry was a true jack-of-all-trades. He worked as an EMT and LPN, a television repairman, a daycare provider, and a maintenance technician. His varied interests included fishing on the Mississippi, camping, journaling, as well as reading and sharing the Word of God. Larry also loved singing, tinkering with projects, fixing things, and watching Westerns. Above all, Larry cherished time spent with his family and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Larry is survived and lovingly remembered by his sons, Larry Coder, Jr. of Anamosa, Doren (Paula) Coder of Swisher, Iowa, and Sheldon Coder of Anamosa; caretaker and beloved daughter, Leann (Randy) Hill of Marion; sons, Dustin and Derek (Allie) Newhard of Marion; grandchildren, Emerald (Zach) Kissinger of Ridgeway, Iowa, Lauren (Justin) Campbell of Rochester, Minnesota, Zale, Zethius, and Zadriana Hill of Marion, Hunter and Jackson Newhard of Marion; four great-grandchildren; and dear friend, Karla Husman of Marion.
