Larry Dale Covington, 77, of Banner, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at his home on September 24, 2025.
Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Larry was the beloved husband of Annette Humber Covington. Larry and Annette were married for 55 years, celebrating their anniversary this past July.
He is survived by his loving mother, Eva Wright Covington of Banner, Mississippi; his daughter, Michelle Covington of Oxford, Mississippi; his son, Scott Covington (Andrea) of Collierville, Tennessee; his grandsons, Hunter Covington (Dallas) of Oxford, Mississippi, Jackson Covington, Dixon Covington, and Wyatt Covington; his great-granddaughter, Sloan Covington; his sister, Peggy Covington of Greenbriar, Arkansas; and his nephews, Dylan Covington and Justin Covington.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, Jack Covington; his brother, Dennis Covington; and his sister, Linnette Villari.
Larry built a successful career as Director of Operations at Vermillion Associates, dba Burger King, where he worked with dedication and leadership from June 1974 until his retirement in December 2001. He was a proud member of the National Restaurant Association and the founder of the “Taste of Texas” in Amarillo, Texas — an event that benefited the local food pantry and reflected his commitment to community and service.
He will be remembered for his love of golf, his devotion to the Dallas Cowboys, and the joy he found in watching his grandson Hunter perform music. Larry’s warmth, humor, and kind spirit touched everyone who knew him.
A private family service will be held at a later date to celebrate his life.
