Larry Vincent Cummins, age 85, of Casey, formerly of Rose Hill, IL, Dothan, AL, and Mansfield, GA, passed away Wednesday July 19, 2023, at Heartland Nursing and Rehab in Casey, IL.

Larry was born on the farm in Rose Hill, Illinois, to Arthur K. Cummins and Pauline (Nichols) Cummins. In December of 1956 Larry married Norma Lee Easton and to this union 3 children were born: Mark, Jim, and Kelly Jo. Survivors include son, Jim "Moon" (Joyce) Cummins; daughter Kelly Jo Cummins (Fiancé Roy Stepp); daughter-in-law Kim (Steve) Cummins; grandchildren Susanne (Kyle) Schackmann, Samantha (Dustin) Herdes, Lea (Matt) Creadore, Sydnie Shook (Jon Sandiford), and Jake Lashmet; great-grandchildren Kayden, Charlotte, Stella, and Abram Schackmann, Drake and Duke Herdes, and Colin Creadore and Reese Moreno, and Crew Creadore arriving in September, and Zaida Jo Sandiford arriving anyday; sister Arthena (Karl) Probst; sister-in-law Loretta Cummins, and his two best friends, Les Brooks of Ogden, IL. and Jerry York of Lithonia, GA. Larry married Janet Homonek in 1997 and she preceded him in 2009. With this marriage, Larry gained 3 stepsons, John, Fred, and Greg Homonek. He was preceded by his parents, son Mark Cummins; grandson Whitney Scherrinsky, stepson Greg Homonek, and brother Carl Cummins.
Larry worked in the family business, Cummins Inc. located in Rose Hill, selling farm equipment. He owned semis and was in the trucking business as well. In the late 70's & early 80's, Larry owned and operated Greenup Sand and Gravel. He then moved to Dothan Alabama, where he was a salesman at Kenworth of Dothan. After that, he moved to Georgia and started Dogwood Truck Sales. Larry was known for his gift of gab and earned the nickname of "Gabby", we are pretty sure he could have sold an Eskimo an air conditioner. Larry was also known for his sense of humor. He always had a joke for anyone that would listen, and he sure gave the ladies at the nursing home a good laugh. Every day the ladies would say he's onery and that he was, but that is what made him special to everyone he met.
Larry was a member and past master of the Newton Masonic Lodge (formerly known as the Hazel Dell/Yale Masonic Lodge) and is a member of the Rose Hill Community Church.
Memorials can be made to the Rose Hill Community Church. Online condolences can be expressed at www.barkleyfuneralchapels.com
