Dr. Larry Davis, 77, of Harrison, passed away on July 6, 2025, at Mercy West Hospital in Cincinnati after a brief illness.
Larry was born on January 10, 1948, in Whitley County, Kentucky, to Joe and Jean (Logan) Davis. He served in the United States Marine Corps, and went on to graduate from Wright State University and the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, where he earned both his master's and doctoral degrees.
He began his ministry as pastor of Friendship Baptist Church in Harveysburg, Ohio. At the time of his passing, he was serving as pastor of Sand Run Baptist Church in Hebron, Kentucky, and was the owner of Dreamworld Printing Co.
Larry loved a cold Mountain Dew, a competitive game of euchre, a good gospel song, and UK basketball. He had a big personality, a sharp wit, and a presence that filled any room he walked into. He could make people laugh, think, and sometimes shake their heads, often all at once. His heart was just as big, and his calling to ministry carried him through more than 40 years of serving others. Both his family and his congregation leaned on his steady presence, and when he was needed, he showed up.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Connie (Hale) Davis; daughters Emilie Davis of Oxford, Ohio, and Sarah (Tim) Moore of St. Cloud, Florida; and a sister, Donna Jones of St. Petersburg, Florida. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren Madeline and Sophia Moore, Eleanor Davis, and Cody and Axel Marlow; nieces Jennifer Jones and Jessica (Justin) Hirsch; nephews Aaron Oney and John (Stephanie) Jones, and their children, along with countless friends whose lives he touched.
Larry drew comfort from 2 Corinthians 5:1: "For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands." Now, he has packed up his tent and moved to the house.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to Sand Run Baptist Church Missions, 1327 North Bend Road, Hebron, Kentucky 41048.

I met Larry at Cold Spring Baptist and he welcomed me and my participation even as an active Catholic. His acceptance and love allowed me to deepen my faith in ways I never expected. Prayers for peace for his family.

We met Larry at Harmony in 1961 when Joe was the pastor. Larry became friends with Anna's brothers Don and Lonnie. We remember when he worked at GM and when he went to marine corp . Memories of him performing our daughter(Sheila and Jim wedding. Memories when he pastored at Harveysburg , and Hebron and still watch him on facebook, we will miss him. So sorry to hear of his passing but know he is with Jesus and his family. Another soldier gone home. Randall and Anna Mills
