Mr. Larry Joe Davis

Funeral services for Mr. Larry Joe Davis, 81, of Deadwood, Texas will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 13, 2025, at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Stephen Hill officiating. Burial will follow in the Deadwood Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 1-2:00 p.m. Saturday at Hawthorns prior to the service.

Mr. Larry Joe "L.J." Davis was born January 26, 1944, in Deadwood, Texas. He passed his life on December 11, 2025, in Longview, Texas. Larry Joe was the third child of four born to the marriage of Pernella Ovell Barnett and Roland Lee Davis. He was raised in Deadwood and schooled in Carthage graduating with the Bulldog class of 1962 and attended Panola College. He married Pat Shew-Davis and together they had four sons during their 19-year marriage. He later married Terry Beth Ogden Davis and gained a stepdaughter and celebrated 39 years of marriage.

Larry Joe spent his career in fence building as owner and operator of the Davis Fence Company still digging fence posts just days prior to his passing. He was a member of the Deadwood Methodist Church. Larry Joe loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and working. He loved watching sports, coaching and following the Astros and Cowboys every season. He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Mary Lee Messick and Shirley Jean Dickerson.

Mr. Davis is survived by his loving wife, Terry Beth Davis of Deadwood; devoted sons, Mike Davis and wife Martha of Deadwood, Mark Davis and wife Staci of Antioch, Mitch Davis and wife Katie Jo of Harris Chapel, Marty Davis and wife Mia of Deadwood; step daughter, Amie Beall and husband Tim of Gladewater; brother, Jimmy Davis and wife Jean of Carthage; grandchildren, Cody Davis, Keaton Davis Willettt and husband Tim, Connor Davis and wife Kinley, Cammie Elizabeth Davis, Matt Davis and wife Mandolin, Marissa Davis Hammers and husband Brandon, Myles Davis, Madie Davis, Molly Davis, and Kylie Beall; great grandchildren, Paxton Davis, Maverick Davis, Maison Davis, and Benjamen Hammers, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be, Matt Davis, Connor Davis, Cody Davis, Daniel Davis, Doug Davis, Rocky Massengale, and Danny Leach.
