February 26, 1967 - September 1, 2025
On Labor Day, Monday, September 1, 2025, Larry Don Eckelman passed away at the age of 58, at Asante Three Rivers Medical Center in Grants Pass, Oregon. Larry's aunt Donna was holding his hand as he crossed over into heaven, also present was his cousin Dawn Sheri, and a few close friends.
Larry Don was born on February 26, 1967, to Larry Dale and Sarah Eckelman in Salinas, California. He moved to Palo Cedro in 1978 with his Aunt Donna and Uncle Brodie. For a short time, they moved back to Salinas, and he attended North Salinas High School and eventually moved back home to Palo Cedro.
He began his firefighting career as a crewman in 1994; The firefighting quickly became his passion through his service to the wildland fires his position and titles included crew, boss, instructor, and teacher. Larry was an inspirational leader and trainer. His family was very proud on all his accomplishments. Larry was loved by many, for his way of helping others when they had no direction.
Larry Don's favorite past times was playing cards, especially poker and rummy, domino's, board games, fishing, listening to his favorite albums and being home with his family.
Larry Don is survived by his aunt Donna, his mother, Sarah, and two beautiful daughters, Britney and Kaylah along with many cousins.
He is proceeded in death by his dad Larry Dale, grandparents, Don and Madge Eckelman, his sister, Cynthia, aunt Sherry, and uncle Brodie Along with cousins, Danny Ray, Kelley, And Christopher.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Larrys honor on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Allen & Dahl Funeral Home located on Deschutes Road in Palo Cedro, CA 96073. Immediately after the services, there will be an endearment and gravesite prayer at the Millville Cemetery.
