Obituary published on Legacy.com by McCulla Funeral Home on Oct. 1, 2025.
Lowell Edward Harouff, aged 79, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2025, at the Madison Rehab Center in Morgantown, WV. Born on May 9, 1945, in East Rainelle, WV, Lowell was a man whose kindness won the hearts of many.
Before he was called to eternity, Lowell was a revered Heavy Equipment Operator and retired from Mon General Hospital where he worked in maintenance. He was admired by his colleagues for both his work ethic and gentle nature. His dedication extended beyond his professional pursuits; he served with valor in the US Marines during the Vietnam War, a testament to his unwavering spirit and love for his country. Lowell's bravery and patriotism shone brightly as he served in the US Marines during the Vietnam War. His service was honored with a Purple Heart, acknowledging his sacrifice and courage.
An ardent lover of the outdoors, Lowell spent countless hours fishing, riding his motorcycle, and enjoying nature especially from the seat of his side-by-side. His warmth extended to all living creatures, making him a friend to animals as well as people.
A true family man, Lowell's love story spanned 57 beautiful years alongside his beloved wife, Judy Pugh Harouff. Together, they cultivated a warm home and raised their sons, Steven Harouff (Rachel) and Devon Harouff, imparting values that would ripple through generations through his charmed grandchildren, Oliva Jade Harouff, Ellery Simone Harouff, and Theodore Maximus Zinn. In his passing, Lowell also leaves behind a loving sister, Jeanie Harouff.
Lowell joins in memory with his late father, Lawrence Harouff, his mother, Wanda Stewart Harouff, and brother, Trent Harouff.
Friends and family may gather at the WV National Cemetery on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at 11am for a graveside service with full military honors conferred by the US Marines and Taylor County Honor Guard.
