Larry Eugene Fairburn, 85, passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Mercy Health St. Rita’s. Larry was born on July 6, 1939, in Lima, Ohio, to Eugene Jacob and Edna Marcella (Chamberlain) Fairburn.
Larry was a Lima Central High School graduate and retired from the Ohio Army National Guard. He had many interesting jobs over the course of his life, including working at Superior Coach on their bus line. He retired after 30 plus years from Oakwood Correctional Facility and was a newspaper carrier for The Lima News for many years. He collected and restored Cushman motor scooters. He also loved Lionel Trains, of which he had a large collection. Larry also loved his vinyl record music collection, especially Patsy Cline.
He is survived by his son, Shawn (Katie) Fairburn of Lima; daughters, Jamie (Mathew) Gallaspie of Wapakoneta and Kristie Wood of Cairo; and their mother, Kimberly Fairburn of Bandera, TX, his former wife of 38 years; grandchildren: Aiden, Gavin, Alivia, and Grayson Gallaspie, Levi Eilerman, and Maggie Fairburn; sister, Sharron Morris of Lima; many nieces and nephews; and beloved kitty, KiKi.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gary Fairburn of Santa Rosa, CA, and brother-in-law, David Morris of Lima, OH
There will be no public services. A private burial will take place at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima, Ohio
