Larry Wayne Featherly, Sr., of Swamp Road, Smithfield, passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at home surrounded by his children after his courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Syracuse on July 18, 1948, the son of Frank and Ethel (Fulmer) Featherly. Larry grew up in Fenner and attended Cazenovia schools for twelve years. He was employed for the Town of Smithfield for twenty-seven years.

Larry met the love of his life, Janice Elaine Miller at Beeman's Ice Cream Shop in Canastota, NY when he was 19 and she was 18. They were married on February 3, 1968. They happily shared their lives together in Peterboro until her passing on July 13, 2023. Together they had eight children.

Surviving are his children; Larry W. Featherly, Jr. of Peterboro, Tammy L. Hoag (Daniel) of Peterboro, Frank A. Featherly of Peterboro, Kimberly S. De La Riva (Johnny) of Oneida, Tracie M. Hopkins (Levi) of Oneida, Jodi L. Featherly (Kristian) of Oneida and Vicki E. Hughes (Korey) of Morrisville; a special aunt, Anita Dougherty; thirty one grandchildren, thirty eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Larry was predeceased by his wife, Janice, his parents, Frank and Ethel and his daughter Shelly Kay Featherly.

In keeping with Larry's wishes there will be no public calling hours or funeral services. He will be laid to rest with his wife Janice, in a companion urn in the family plot in Nelson Rural Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 300 S. Peterboro Street, Canastota.
