Larry Leroy Foster, age 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at Meadowbrook Nursing Home in Bloomer, WI. He was born on June 15, 1940, to Earl & Emily Foster in Bemidj, MN.
Larry grew up a country boy working on the family farm and graduated from Cass Lake High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Minnesota and briefly attended Bethel Seminary. He married Carol Frances Oman on August 31, 1963, beginning a beautiful love story that would span over 50 years.
For 10 years, Larry served with the United States Forest Service, living with Carol in some of the most beautiful places in America, including New Mexico, Arizona, Michigan, and Vermont. All three of their children were born in different states. God had His purpose in bringing them home to the family farm in New Auburn, WI, on October 31, 1973. Larry & Carol worked with boys from the Division of Corrections for five years on the farm, beginning with a dairy operation and later transitioning to beef and sheep. Later, Larry drove over-the-road truck.
Those who knew Larry remember his smile could light up any room, and his hearty laugh drowned out the noise around him. Larry walked through each season of life with unwavering faith. He was a founding member of Bloomer Baptist Church, faithfully serving as deacon, song leader, and Sunday School teacher. His legacy of faith continues to point others to Jesus.
Larry is survived by his children: Tirzah (Joe) Gerber, Suzie (Danny) Hetke and Jonathan (Sarah) Foster; grandchildren: Daniel & Aduko Gerber, Shayne Hetke, Dustin (Tasha) Hetke and Kyle Hetke, and Thomas Watson Foster; great grandchildren: Hailey Hetke, Isaiah & Ezra Hetke; sister: Joni (John Robert) Barrett; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Earl and Emily Foster; wife: Carol Foster in 2021; granddaughter: Alisa Jordan Gerber; and 3 infant siblings: Patricia, John, Curtis.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, on Friday, September 12, 2025, at the Bloomer Baptist Church, 2620 Duncan Road, Bloomer, WI. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Friday at the church.
