Larry A. Hannahs

Larry A. Hannahs, 88, of Newcomerstown, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday November 15, 2025.

Larry was born July 17, 1937 in Newcomerstown to the late Preston W. and Vera (Lloyd) Hannahs. He was a 1955 graduate of Newcomerstown High School. Larry went on to work at Alsco for ten years. He then retired in 1994 from a long career at AT&T, formerly Ohio Bell Telephone Co.

Larry loved hunting and sports. He was a Jack-of-all-trades, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and anything else that needed done. He built his own home from the ground up for his family. Larry was always the first in line to offer a helping hand to anyone in need. Though his mobility became limited due to his neuro-muscular disease Charcot-Marie-Tooth, he endured well, always treasuring the time spent with his family and friends. His door was always open; he never met a stranger.

On May 10, 1958, Larry married his wife, Nancy (Brown) Hannahs, who survives. He is also survived by his son Bart (Donna) Hannahs and daughter Beth McCune (Terry); his grandchildren, Dawn Hannahs, J.P. Hannahs (Chris), Kelsey (Austin) Gibson, and Kody McCune; great-grandchildren, Brayden and Mackenzie Rose, Miles, Barrett, and Lettie Gibson, and Benjamin McCune; two foster children, Roxann Wilson and Penny Estavanka; a sister-in-law, Joann Hannahs; step-sisters, Mary Lou Meek and Carol Ann Rush; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Bret Hannahs; his brothers, Robert (Norma) Hannahs, Richard (Norma) Hannahs, and Donald Hannahs; his step-mother, Mary Rush; and stepbrother, John Rush.

A graveside service for Larry will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at 12 pm at the West Lawn Cemetery in Newcomerstown with Jon Campbell officiating.
