Larry Hansen Obituary

Larry Dean Hansen, 72, of Waseca, MN, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025, with family by his side.

Born on July 11, 1953, in Austin, MN, to Edith and LaVerne Hansen, Larry grew up with a strong sense of community and service, values that shaped both his life and career. Following his high school graduation he continued his education at the University of Duluth and received a Bachelor degree in business administration. He dedicated much of his professional life to public service as the City Administrator of Waterville, Stewartville, and Stillwater, a role he valued deeply. His leadership left a lasting mark on the communities he served.

Beyond his career, Larry cherished the outdoors. Whether on the golf course, fishing on a quiet lake, skiing through the Minnesota woods, camping at Best Point, or shenanigans with his best friend, Paul, he found joy in nature and in the company of family and friends.

Larry’s greatest joy, however, was his family. He welcomed his beloved daughter, Robyn, in 1989 with Sharon. For Larry, becoming a grandfather was one of life’s greatest joys, and he cherished every moment spent with his granddaughter, Regan.

Larry will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Robyn (Mike) Cunningham; granddaughter, Regan Cunningham; sister, Sheryl Schiller, sister-in-law, Marna Hansen; nephews, Zach Hansen and Lucas Miller; and close friend, Paul (Jan) Hunter.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Edith and LaVerne Hansen; brother, Darren Hansen; and brother-in-law, Roger Miller

A celebration of Larry’s life will be held on Sunday, October 12 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM at the American Legion in Waseca, MN.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Junior Jay's Preschool in Waseca, MN ~ Waseca Public Schools, 501 East Elm Avenue, Waseca, MN 56093.
