Cavallin Funeral Home - Two HarborsLarry Ernest Heise, age 70 of Two Harbors, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2025, at Aspirus St. Luke’s Hospital after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
Larry was born on December 4th 1954 in Duluth MN to Ethel Ordelia Meyers and Lawrence Charles Frederick Heise. He grew up in Clover Valley and was among the last graduating class of Clover Valley High School in 1974.
He lived life as a logger in his younger years alongside his dad before changing careers to welding. Larry was a huge presence in the AA Community, sponsoring many over the years and helping them through challenging times. Larry was also active with the Bassett Community Church where his famous oatmeal cookies were beloved by all.
Friends and family will remember him for his Stubbornness, Humor and Big Heart. He was not one to give up easily and if he didn’t know how to fix something, he’d do it in his own special way. He would drop everything to help others. Larry did his best to make you laugh, being quite the instigator of mischief. One of his favorites was stashing his Starlite Mint wrappers in your hood or pocket to make you smile. Larry was dedicated to his family and had a special place in his heart for his wife Denise and grandkids. He spent extra time caring for his autistic grandson Leland. Before his passing, Larry expressed his gratitude for raising 4 amazing children to adulthood, 50 years of marriage with his beautiful wife and 17 years of sobriety.
He is survived by his wife Denise Heise of 50 Years; Children Sue (Christopher) Hatfield, Sarah (Rob Fasteland) Heise, Mary Heise, Charles (Amanda) Heise; 6 Grandchildren Donnie and David Gunter, Leland, Alias and Isabel Heise, Mykah Hatfield, Step Granddaughter Sierra Gunter; Brother Paul Heise; Sisters Linda (Bud) Brandt, Betty (Dan) Patnaude, Belle Tjader, Kathy Kalash, and Mary (Dave) Carlson. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his Parents Ethel and Lawrence Heise; Brothers John Heise, Baby boy Heise; Sisters Donna Heise and Lois Magnuson.
There will be a celebration of life on December 13th at Living Waters Church 501 7th Ave Two Harbors, Mn from 1-5 PM. Donations can go directly to Denise’s Venmo at Denise-Heise-13
