Larry Henderson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Shelby Funeral Home - East Prairie on Feb. 6, 2026.
Larry Gene Henderson, age 62, of Sikeston, MO, formerly of East Prairie, MO, passed away February 6, 2026. He was born June 29, 1963; in East Prairie, to late Sarah Sue Abner Henderson, and is survived by John W. Henderson and Carolyn "Ninny" Henderson. Larry was a truck driver, and spent most of his career driving for Henderson Trucking.

Growing up, Larry truly enjoyed going with his paw and his uncle Ricky to Texas, Larry would take any opportunity to drive a big rig. He enjoyed those trips, it was evident from the beginning that he found his calling in life.

Just as Larry experienced growing up, driving at a young age, he couldn't wait to seize the moment to teach his kids to drive. He took pride teaching his kids something he enjoyed the most and something he was so passionate about. He would often say, "You want to drive, get over here and take it."

Oh, how Larry was different from most. He would aggravate anyone, and he never met a stranger. He would make you laugh from the moment he woke up, to the moment he went to sleep. He was such a vibrant soul. His favorite saying was, "sit up there." Those were Larry's way of showing love.

Larry spent many days away from home, but he truly enjoyed being on the road. He wouldn't miss the opportunity to eat Whataburger, it was his favorite place to eat. He also loved his sodie and snack cakes.

When Larry wasn't on the road, he valued time spent with his tractor, fishing and hunting. He was a simple guy, but if you asked him anything about a Peterbilt, he would talk your ear off.

As always, life isn't perfect and we all make mistakes. Larry had a huge heart, and he loved his children and grandchildren. As his dad J.W. would say, he was misunderstood and knew way more than what people would credit him for.

It's with heavy heart to report that Larry carried his last load on February 6th, 2026. Life is too short, but it warms our hearts knowing our dad is the closest thing to heaven.

Larry is survived by one son, Justin (Audrey) Henderson; three daughters, Casey Henderson, Shelbi Henderson, and Andrea Chadd; four brothers, Darrell (Cheryl) Abner, Jerry Henderson, Johnny (Shannon) Henderson, and Brandon (Courtney) Henderson; and one sister, Angie Abner. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Jaden, Lane, Tate, Jaxee, Tristen, Mariah, James, Tyler, Trinity, and Brooklyn; and two great grandchildren, Ellie and Kainan.

In addition to his mother, Larry was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Votra Henderson, and Charles and Geneva Abner.

Visitation will be held Friday, February 13, 2026, beginning at 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1:00 p.m., at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, with Bro. Randy Eskew officiating. Interment will follow in Dogwood Cemetery under the direction of Shelby Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Tristen, Lane, Jordan, Jaden, Johnny, and Brandon.
Honorary pallbearers will be Nolan, Jerry, Darrell, and Tate.
