Maxwell Funeral Home - Little Egg HarborLarry J Kaplan, 74 of Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey went home to be with the Lord on Thursday March 5th, 2026. Larry was born in Passaic, New Jersey, on March 30th, 1951, the beloved son of Robert and Margaret Kaplan. Formerly of Clifton, New Jersey, Larry retired in 2012 and purchased a condo in Wildwood, New Jersey, so he could live near the ocean and enjoy watching the sunrises and sunsets. He loved going to the beach and could often be found riding his bike most mornings along the Wildwood Boardwalk.
In 2015, Larry relocated to Cranberry Creek in Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey, where he married, as he would say the love of his life, Toni. His life reflected his faith and personal motto: “Letting God in and letting go”. Larry graduated from Clifton High School, class of 1969. He went on to study at Grahm Junior College in Boston, Massachusetts graduating in 1971 with an associate degree in Liberal Arts.
Larry worked in the fire equipment industry for more than 40 years before retiring. He served as Vice President of Sales for Fire-End and Croker in Elmsford, New York. He also proudly served the Boys and Girls Club of Clifton, New Jersey.
Larry loved the Lord and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey, where he volunteered with the food pantry and Celebrate Recovery until he became too ill to continue. He was a faithful, loyal, fun-loving and generous man with a great love for life. Larry touched everyone who knew him in a special way. He loved and cared deeply for his family and friends. If you knew him, you knew you were loved.
Larry was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Margaret Kaplan.
He leaves to mourn his loving wife, Toni Kaplan; his daughter, Jennifer Burrous (Rachel); his granddaughter, Mackenzie Riley Berkowitz; his stepdaughter, Tiffany Nicole Thomas (Ira); his sister, Dorinee Sherman; his sister-in-law, Tina Lisa Carroll; his brother-in-law, Arcillo Martin Rhette; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and dear friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday March 21st, 2026, at 1:00pm at Calvary Baptist Church, 850 Railroad Drive, Little Egg Harbor, NJ 08087.
