Larry L. Lampe, 93, of Bellevue, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Mill Valley Care Center in Bellevue.

A Funeral Mass celebrating Larry’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Bellevue. Visitation will take place from 8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. prior to Mass at Hachmann-Mier Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Military Honors will be performed by the Bellevue American Legion Post #273. Burial will be held at a later date at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Bellevue.

Larry was born on August 6, 1932, the son of William and Anna (Haxmeier) Lampe in a stone home in rural Bellevue. From 1953–1955, he proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. On June 7, 1955, Larry married the love of his life, Maryetta Schmidt, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Springbrook. Together they built a beautiful life filled with faith, family, and service.

He worked at Clinton Engines in Maquoketa and Ensign Coil in Bellevue. Larry and Maryetta in 1973 bought Lampe True Value and served their community for 22 years, a business he took great pride in before eventually passing it on to his son upon retirement. Deeply committed to his community, Larry was active in numerous organizations, including St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, charter member of Bellevue Volunteer Ambulance Service, and a 70-year member of Bellevue American Legion Post #273, serving on the Honor Guard for many years. He most importantly cherished time spent with family and friends and especially enjoyed the weekly gatherings of the BES Club, a tradition he looked forward to for many years. Larry enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, and wintering in Florida.

Larry touched the lives of many with his kindness, dedication, humor, and warm spirit. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Larry is survived by his wife of 70 years, Maryetta; his children, Lori (Dan) Kilburg, Chris (Kathie) Lampe, Chuck (Bobbie) Lampe, and Bill (Paula) Lampe; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren on the way; his brother, Norbert Lampe; and brothers- and sisters-in-law, Leonard (Shirley) Schmidt, Vincent Schmidt, Vitus (Bev) Schmidt, Levi (Vera) Schmidt, Pat (Jiggs) Trenkamp, David (Audrey) Schmidt, Charlene Grothues, and Tom (Lee) Schmidt; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings and in-laws, Richard (Velma) Lampe, Linda Lampe, Mercedes (Alvin) Herrig, Helen (John) Daugherty, Mary (Arnie) Sturm, Marcella “Babe” (Dwain) Junk; and numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law.
