Larry Lee Letner, age 69, of Oxford, MS, formerly of Scott County, TN, departed this life on May 3, 2022. He was born June 7, 1952 in Cincinnati, OH to the late Lillie Phillips Goodman. Larry graduated from Huntsville High School in 1970. He went straight into the Army after graduation, where he served four years. He went to college in Cookeville, TN, then returned to the United State Army where he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel after another 23 years of service. He taught Military Science at West Point Military Academy for 3 years. After returning to Scott County, he was the principal at Scott High School.
Along with his mother, Larry is preceded in death by his wife and soulmate Beverly Davis Letner, whom he married on April 11, 1981; daughter Morgan Brooke Letner; and great niece Julian Shae Goodman.
He is survived by one son Jason (Natalie) Letner; one daughter Margeaux Letner; grandsons Kylin, Elijah, Easton, and Emmett; brothers Roger Letner of Alford, Florida, John (Theresa) Goodman; sisters Alene Massengale and Karen Lawson (Wayne Strunk); nieces and nephews Amber Friday, Clarissa Patton, Justin Goodman, Ryan Goodman, Brad Goodman, Trevor Goodman, Sean Letner, Tanika Myers, Candice Goodman, Shanna Savage; along with several other special great nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.
The family will receive friends for a celebration of life on Saturday, May 28, 2022 from 12 noon until the time of service at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of Four Oaks Funeral Home of Huntsville, 2889 Baker Hwy. Huntsville, TN 37756, with Bro. Gary "Moe" Crabtree officiating. Music will be provided by Daniel Murley.
