There were things I thought of after the service was over. I remember you collected antiques (like washing machines and old stoves) and took them to antique shows. You often sat in the garage working on projects...like cracking walnuts, organizing your tools, displaying posters...things that showed your interests. You had hunting dogs and even after you no longer hunted you had a couple dogs. You freely gave away your produce from the garden, always loading them up in the UAW plastic bags for people to haul home. You had a racoon or two and it followed you around all the time. You were also a bee keeper for a number of years.
I remember the summer (or maybe 2) that you and several friends rented a cottage at Big Long Lake (?) for the summer. There was always activity...skiing, cooking, partying, drinking, and being in the sun.
You had many friends and never a dull moment of celebrating and enjoying your time with them.
I also remember you bringing me a poinsettia plant a few times at Christmas. You made the rounds and delivered to several female relatives and friends.
I am so grateful that you are no longer in pain. I'm hoping there is a car where you are now...but then again, maybe you are so thrilled to see the beauty of heaven that driving is not longer on your radar. I'm sure you will be busy doing much more fun things.
I will miss you brother. I will miss the calls on holidays and my birthday.
Much love, your baby sis, Shirley

The old gang that I knew is now gone - Smoke was the best and the memories are great. Dad always thought of him as another son and he has always been there thru thick & thin. Prayers to the girls and their families as well as Bill & Shirley.

I´m so happy that you are no longer in pain Smoke but I will miss you. Give a hug to all who have gone before.
Praise God the pain is gone and you are at peace. My first thought was of you saying "this place is so great I don´t even need a car!"
Do they have a garden up there?
Much love, your baby sister, Shirley

Smoke was a coworker and great friend. He served our union brothers well and will always be remembered. It was an honor being his friend. Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this time of loss.
