Larry Hugh Linton, a beloved figure in the Lake Wales community, passed away on December 8, 2025, at AdventHealth Lake Wales. Born on June 25, 1948, in Lake Wales, Florida, Larry made an indelible mark on both his family and the community he served throughout his life.
Larry dedicated his career to the citrus industry, serving as the harvesting manager for Hunt Bros. Beyond his professional life, he was an avid hunter and fisherman, passions that brought him joy and allowed him to cultivate deep connections with nature and friends.
Larry's dedication extended far beyond his career and interests; he was a pillar of support for the youth of Lake Wales through his involvement with Little League. With over 30 years dedicated to this organization, he served as President of Lake Wales Little League and was the District Administrator for District 4 Little League in Florida. His commitment to nurturing the next generation of kids was a source of profound pride, and he impacted countless lives during his tenure.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Hughie and Dorothy Linton, and his half-sister, Jan Lane. He is survived by his children, Shannon Linton Grant and Matthew Linton, who carry forward his legacy. Larry also took great joy in being a grandfather to Cohen, Porter, Mason, and Kaleigh, who brought him immense happiness. Larry is also survived by his brother, David Linton, and his wife, Sarah, who shared in many cherished moments. He has two nieces, Ashley Linton and Laura Dixon (Derek), two great nieces Madison and Grace and one great nephew, Easton.
As the community mourns the loss of Larry Linton, his contributions and spirit will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege to know him.
