Larry Lynch, 76, found peace and continues his favorite hobby, fishing of course, in a heavenly place on Sunday, November 30th at the Sanford Heart Hospital with family at his side. . A visitation will be held Tuesday, December 9, 2025, from 5-7 PM at Furness Funeral Home of Clark with a rosary being held at 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at 9:30 AM at St. Michael's Catholic Church of Clark with the Reverend Richard Baumberger as Celebrant. Burial will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery of rural Lily with a lunch to follow at the Bradley Community Center.
Larry was born to Arthur and Alice (Anderson) Lynch on July 8th, 1949 on the homestead near Lily, SD. He attended Lily elementary and graduated from Bristol high school. After graduation, Larry joined the Navy and served in the Vietnam war sailing aboard the U.S.S. Floyd B. Parks DD-884.
On his return home, he was united in marriage to Nancy Van Gilder. Quite soon after they welcomed Lance & Jessica. They lived in the Watertown & Kranzburg areas while he worked at Pollard International as a diesel mechanic. Family ties pulled them back to Clark County where they helped both their parents in family farming until Larry became Clark County Weed Supervisor. As the children grew the couple grew apart. Lance & Jessica filled the space in his life with 6 grandchildren who he adored. He then married Cheri Hartford in 2008, & became step father to Andy, Jason & Heidi. He retired in 2020 but continued to serve on the Clark County Weed Board up until his death. He was a proud member of the Lily American Legion Post #156 for 50+ years, serving in the Honor Guard & as a Commander. He is also a member of the Webster American Legion Post #40, their Honor Guard & the Vietnam Veterans of America NE-SD, Chapter 1054 of Watertown,SD. Larry was a Lifetime member of the Buffalo Plains Historical Foundation, which is dedicated to preserving Lily’s past for the future. Throughout his lifetime, Larry always enjoyed helping on the family farm whenever he could. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, gardening, watching the Vikings, Twins & Nascar.
He is preceded in death by his father & mother, mother-in-law & brother-in-law. He is survived by his children & grandchildren. His wife, step children & 6 step grand children. His 5 siblings & their spouses. He was uncle & great uncle to an amazing crew of nieces & nephews that he adored.
In lieu of flowers, the Lynch family requests that memorial donations be made to the Lily Cemetery Fund.
