Lynch III (AKA-Jake), Wyatt James Blackshaw, Austin Lynch, Rory LaRue Blackshaw and Kaylee Stedman. Great-grandfather of Freya Remolde; Jaxson, Carter, and Levi Haines; and Alice Blackshaw. Loving brother to Margaret Lauk of Collingswood, predeceased by sister Patricia Dougherty and dear brothers-in-law Thomas Dougherty and Donald J. Lauk Sr. "Uncle Snake" to his nieces and nephews.
He was the steady center of our ever-growing family.
Our father's greatest legacy is not only found in what he built with his hands, but in the wonderfully twisted sense of humor he passed on-to his four children, his ten grandchildren whom he called by unique and loving nicknames, and now his five great-grandchildren. That laughter, that spark, that mischief lives on in all of us.
Our home was the place everyone showed up to, hung out at, watched tv at, slept over, or even the few who moved in and lived with us. He lovingly named the home we were raised in "Lynch's home of misfits and unemployables"
He was a proud Navy veteran who served his country from 1959-1963 aboard the USS Lexington and the USS Montrail. That sense of duty, commitment, and quiet strength never left him, it shaped how he lived, how he worked, and how he loved.
He carried that same pride into a long career on the railroad, with Conrail, Amtrak, and Dymac. Doing whatever job they asked; welding, cleaning and refurbishing train cars, or just fixing it fast to get it turned around. He believed in honest work, showing up, and doing the job right… AND bringing home all the items he found on the trains he so eloquently name FOTT's.
His favorite place on earth was his cabin in the woods of Huntingdon PA a place of quiet, of stories, of time slowing down, laughter, joy and mischief. There, surrounded by trees and family, he was most at peace and most himself. He loved sharing that place with those he loved, and it will always carry his presence.
He cherished hunting alongside his son and friends, moments of patience, tradition, and connection that needed no words at all. (except there was always a lot of yelling)
He was the undisputed king of duct-tape DIY-able to fix almost anything with creativity, determination, and a refusal to give up. That spirit taught us resilience, humor, how to correctly use colorful language and how to keep going even when things don't go perfectly.
Above all, he loved his family fiercely. In ways both quiet and bold, he showed up, he cared deeply,
and he gave the best of himself to those he loved.
We will meet you at the "Pearly Gates" one day Dad Love you.
