Robert Marmion Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by The Chapel at Boucher Funeral Home, LLC on Feb. 19, 2026.
Robert Allan Marmion (Bob) passed away peacefully on February 18, 2026 after a long illness. Bob was born on May 28, 1947, in Sharon, Pennsylvania. He was the devoted husband to Rosemarie Marmion (née Murphy) and a loving father to Dr. Robert A. Marmion Jr. (wife Laura L. née Hough) and Caitlin M. Cowin (née Marmion, husband William). Bob is survived by his two grandchildren (Hannah and Jacob Marmion), his sister Susan Nottingham (husband John), brother Daniel Marmion (wife Donna) and as well as an extensive family of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Helen Marmion (née McNutt) and Peter Joseph Marmion, and his two brothers, John Patrick Marmion and William Marmion.

Bob graduated from Sharon High School in Sharon, PA in 1965 and Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) in 1970. He was an active member of his college fraternity Delta Sigma Phi (Delta Sig) until his illness. He spent his professional career working as a Licensed Professional Planner in Erie, PA; Montclair, NJ; Salem Co., NJ; Deptford Twp., NJ and Montgomery Twp., NJ. His last position was as Director of Community Development and Director of GIS in Montgomery Township, NJ

Bob was involved in the planning of Deptford Memorial Park (originally named, "Fasola Park") and Almonesson Creek Park in Deptford. His hobbies were diverse and included scuba diving, swimming, playing the trumpet and even a stint at golf. He loved traveling to the Caribbean and visiting Aruba. His favorite T- shirt read, "When I die, send me to Aruba." He also enjoyed visiting Florida as a snow bird in the winter. Bob had a love for animals and enjoyed family pets throughout his life. While Robby and Caitlin were young, he rescued Shannon (Golden Retriever) and Bob enjoyed spoiling several granddogs over the years. Later in life, puzzles were a passion and he completed several, which adorn the walls of various rooms.

Mr. Marmion shared a fence behind our property in Deptford, and his son Rob was my very first childhood friend. We spent a lot of time in their backyard, playing in the wood pile to create forts, playing hide & seek, and climbing trees. Speaking of climbing... we would run full speed up his solar panels and then slide down, which we thought was hilarious, but would drive Bob completely nuts, hahaha. I had my very first of many sleep overs in his home, and was also first introduced to the internet and learned computers in his upstairs office. He was always generous and kind to me, my brothers Ray and Eric, as well as my sister, Melissa, who was also good friends with his daughter, Cait. I was devastated to learn that he passed away late last night, and even more distraught when I discovered he had been struggling with a persistent illness.

It was my absolute pleasure to know him and his wonderful family. My biggest regret is I never had a chance to see him again, and say good-bye; Rest in peace, Bob... You were a wonderful father and a brilliant man and you will certainly be missed.
