Larry Allen McCormick, age 79, gently passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2025. He had suffered mobility issues from a car accident in the previous nine months, but his wit and memory rebounded during the last five months of his life. Larry was an Air Force medic stationed in London during the Vietnam War and worked last as a surveyor. He was a formidable duplicate bridge player who learned from his parents and played ACBL club matches in his preteens. He was a wicked pinochle player and could play Canasta even better than his good friend of 50-odd years, Jim Ware of Kingston, TN. Larry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Doris Adkisson McCormick, who passed away in 2009; his parents, William Allen McCormick and Mabel Cleo Cline McCormick; his two older brothers; and many close friends from his days co-owning the Tap Room on the University of Tennessee, including business partner Michael James Pullin and his wife Trudi, as well as his buddy John Arthur Hall. He will be missed by his buddies and the bridge communities of Dean Hill, Everett Senior Center in Maryville, and the Oak Ridge Bridge Club. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at 8:30 a.m. at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 2200 E. Governor John Sevier Hwy, Knoxville, TN 37920, with military honors presented by the Tri-County Veterans Honor Guard. "May green be the grass you walk on, May blue be the skies above you, May pure be the joys that surround you, May true be the hearts that love you." Rose Funeral & Cremation Broadway is honored to serve the McCormick family.
