A funeral service for Larry Eugene Meeks, age 84, of Fayetteville, TN, will be held at 4 PM on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Cleo Moon and Bro. Milton Martin officiating. Visitation will be from 2 PM until 4 PM on Sunday at Higgins Funeral Home. Private interment will take place at Higgins Cedar Hills Memorial Gardens at a later date.
Larry was born on August 23, 1940, in New Market, Alabama, to the late John William "Bill" Meeks and Margie Estelle Sisk Meeks. A graduate of Central High School, he went on to earn an associate degree as a member of the 12th graduating class from Motlow State Community College. Larry began his professional career in insurance sales with National Life and later enjoyed working at Walmart following his retirement. He was also a familiar and friendly presence at the local farmers market.
Larry faithfully served as Pastor of Hilldale Baptist Church in Fayetteville for many years, ministering to his community with dedication and compassion. He worked closely with his beloved wife, Geraldine, as she directed Park City Preschool, forming a meaningful partnership in both ministry and education. Mr. Meeks passed away peacefully at his residence on May 15, 2025.
Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Reed Meeks; children, Carol Yvonne Meeks (Terry) McConnell, and Timothy Darryl "Tim" (Melissia) Meeks; grandchildren, Theelun Craig (Allie) Isbell, Cheree Carolyn Isbell, Hunterland Christian (Rachel) Meeks, Hayden Samuel Meeks, Hallie Savannah-Grace Meeks, Jonathan Wayne (Kim) McConnell, and Joshua Lee (Guat Bee) McConnell; great-granddaughter, Olivia Lauren McConnell; brother, Kenneth (Joyce) Meeks; and sister-in-law, Hazel Meeks. In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Hannah Kirsten Meeks; brother, Harold Dean Meeks; and a sister, Carol Annette Meeks.
Higgins Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family of Larry Eugene Meeks.
