Larry Shelton Moore, age 76, of Four Oaks passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023 at home. Funeral Services will be 3:00PM-Friday, September 29, 2023 at Rose and Graham Funeral Chapel in Four Oaks, NC. Rev. Roger Hill will officiate. Burial will follow in Barbour’s Chapel Advent Christian Church Cemetery, outside Four Oaks, NC.
Larry was the son of the late R.C., Jr. and Recia Moore of Four Oaks. After graduating from Four Oaks High School in 1966, Larry was a pattern designer and cutter for the Jerald Plant in Smithfield. With a mechanical mind, Larry served as a faithful employee of Johnston County Schools for 37 years as a school bus mechanic. Having spent many years traveling to service school buses at schools and on the road, he could always take you on a new route to a familiar destination. Larry retired in August of 2011 and spent the remainder of his life at his family farm, helping local farmers including Lazy O Farms and Lee & Sons Farm. He enjoying breakfast at Barefoot’s Country Store, supper at Holt Lake, and an occasional scoop of ice cream at Ronnie Parker’s.
Larry is survived by his sisters, Sylvia Moore Parker, of Smithfield, and Sue Moore Johnson of Clayton, nephew David Parker and wife, Cathy of Smithfield, and great nieces, Shannon Parker Olive and husband, Edward of Newton Grove, Natalie Parker of Clayton, and Grace Parker of Smithfield. The joy of Larry’s life were his great-great nephews Elliot and Everett Olive. He loved to talk to them about school buses and anything farming.
A special thanks to the staff of Four Oaks Kidney Center for their care of Larry over the past several years.
The family will receive friends from 2:00PM-2:45PM, on Friday, September 29, 2023 at Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Four Oaks, NC.
