Larry Morgan Obituary
Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 25, 2026.
With hearts both heavy and hopeful, we announce the passing of Larry Walter Morgan, who was peacefully called home to be with the Lord on February 23, 2026, just days before his 85th birthday. While his absence leaves a deep ache, we take comfort in knowing that Larry is now whole, healed, and rejoicing in the presence of Jesus.
Born on February 25, 1941, Larry lived a life marked by quiet strength, deep faith, and unwavering love for his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend - a man whose life spoke louder than words.
Larry shared a lifetime of love with his beloved wife of 63 precious years, Lou Etta Morgan, who survives him and remains his greatest earthly blessing. Together, they built a family grounded in faith, perseverance, and unconditional love.
He was the proud father of two daughters: Renee Morgan Kimmer, married to Robbie Kimmer, one of Larry's closest friends and strongest supporters; and Kristie Morgan O'Neal, married to Barry O'Neal, also a dear friend and steadfast supporter to Larry.
To his granddaughter, Angel Lawing, Larry was lovingly known as "Pop," and she was his "Sunshine." Their bond was special and enduring. Angel and her husband, Paul Lawing, who loved Larry like his own grandfather, blessed him with his only great grandchild, Holden Lawing, a joy that filled Pop's heart with pride.
Larry's only grandson, Tanner O'Neal, the son of Kristie and Barry, was truly the light of his life. His love for Tanner was deep and unmistakable - a love filled with pride, encouragement, and quiet admiration.
From a young age, Larry showed a deep sense of responsibility and compassion for others. He played a large role in caring for his younger sister, Cathy Whitley, helping look after her when she was small - an early reflection of the steady, selfless man he would become. That same quiet devotion followed him throughout his life in the way he loved and cared for his family.
Larry was a man who could fix just about anything. With gifted hands and a patient spirit, he loved woodworking, creating, building, and repairing - finding purpose and peace in working with his hands. Many of the things he made will continue to be used and cherished, just as his influence will continue to be felt by those who knew him.
He retired from Boral Brick in Salisbury, North Carolina, where he was known for his strong work ethic, dependability, and dedication. Larry believed in honest work, doing things right, and providing for his family - values he lived out every day.
Larry was preceded in death by his twin brother, Jerry Morgan, who passed away in December of 2025. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Carl Mitchell Morgan and Sadie Ellen Webb Morgan. He is survived by his older brother, David Morgan, and his sister, Cathy Whitley.
A man of sincere and steadfast faith, Larry trusted God through both joy and hardship. His faith was not loud, but it was genuine - shown through patience, kindness, humility, and perseverance. He believed in doing what was right, loving his family well, and trusting the Lord even when the path was difficult.
Those who knew Larry will remember his quiet strength, gentle heart, loyalty, skilled hands, and the way he made others feel safe and valued. His life was a living testimony to faithfulness and love.
While we grieve his loss, we rejoice in God's promise:
"Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your Lord."
- Matthew 25:23
Larry has finished his race. His faith has become sight. Though we will miss him every day, we hold tightly to the promise that we will see him again.
A celebration of Larry's life will be held on Monday, March 2nd at 3pm at Wyatt's Grove Baptist Church, the church that shaped so much of his life - where he accepted Christ as his Savior, married the love of his life, and raised their two children.
Until we meet again, Punkin', Daddy, Pop -
