Larry Herbert Nickel, 80 years of Ida, MI. Died Saturday July 20, 2024, at home. Friends may call at the Capaul Funeral Home, Ida, MI, Tuesday July 30, 2024, from 2-8PM. He will lie in state on Wednesday July 31, 20224, from 10 AM until the services at 11AM at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Ida, MI. Pastor Aaron Werner will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle, MI.
Born October 12, 1943, in Monroe, MI. Larry was the son of Herbert and Helma (Heiden) Nickel. He was a 1961 Ida High School Graduate. He married Betty Dougherty on March 31, 1973, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Ida, MI. Larry was a lifelong farmer who also drove trucks for Northern Steel Transport from 1992-2008. He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Monroe Rifle and Pistol Club, Modern Producers Farm Bureau and loved 3-gun matches, gardening, hunting, traveling to 48 states, and tinkering.
Survivors include his wife, Betty, children, Lee Nickel, Kathy O'Neal and grandchildren, Donovan, Keanan, Jaxson. He was preceded in death by his parents.
