Larry Nickell

Services for Larry C. Nickell, 76, of Ada are 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Union Valley Baptist Church; Rev. Randall Christy will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Criswell Funeral Home.

Mr. Nickell moved to his heavenly home on Sunday, October 5, 2025, in Oklahoma City. He was born September 22, 1949, in Ada to Audrey Crabil and Gertie Marie Laughlin Nickell.

On January 23, 1971, he married Janet Lee Hopkins. Two years later they began their family with their daughter followed by a son. Larry enjoyed supporting his children and grandchildren in their hobbies and endeavors. Mr. Nickell served in the United States Army and worked as a Civil Service Employee in the National Guard. After retirement he maintained his connections with people he served with in the National Guard monthly. He became a member of Union Valley Church and was extremely active there.

Survivors include his wife Janet of the home; son, Kevin Nickell and wife Lisa of Maud; daughter, Janette New and husband Marty of Lawton; brother, Crabil Michael Nickell and wife Debbie of Shawnee; and five grandchildren, Rhiannon Nickell, Rece Nickell, Rhett Nickell, Jacob New and Isaac New.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Bearers are Troy Miller, Fred Haney, Gerald Haney, Jamie Perry, Wesley Frederick, Josh Christian, Jacob Christian and Chad Collins. Honorary bearers are Matthew Huddleston, Jim Christenberry, Doug Deaton, Danny Collins, Larry Wheeler, Wayne Coatney, Ken Turner, and Robert Lemmings.
