Larry Payan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home & Cremation Service - Ventura on Dec. 20, 2025.
Larry R. Payan, 73, of Ventura, California, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2025, in Ventura. Larry was born on March 1, 1952, in Oxnard, California, to Larry C. and Navidad Payan.

Larry attended Ventura High School and graduated in 1970. After high school, he began a long and dedicated career as a mechanic for the phone company, where he worked for 31 years. Known for his strong work ethic and reliability, Larry took pride in providing for his family.

Music was one of Larry's greatest passions. He loved playing his guitars and attending concerts, and his appreciation for music was something he shared with his family. His life took on new meaning in 2021 with the birth of his grandson, Henry. Larry's eyes would light up whenever he saw him, and he cherished every moment they spent together, always reminding Henry how deeply he was loved.

Larry was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie Payan, of Ventura; his sons, Lorenzo Payan Jr. (Valerie) and Drew Payan (Jeannette); his cherished grandson, Henry; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Larry C. Payan and Navidad Payan; his brother, Joe Payan; and his in-laws, Pat and Dean. Larry is now free from pain and reunited with his loved ones in heaven.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Cottage Inn and Livingstone Memorial Hospice for their compassionate care and support.

A viewing and Most Holy Rosary will be held on Friday, January 2, at the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, 757 E. Main Street, Ventura. The viewing will begin at 5:00 p.m., followed by the rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, January 3, at 10:00 a.m. at The Old Mission. Burial services will follow at Carpinteria Cemetery, located at 1501 Cravens Lane, at 11:30 a.m.
