Daniel Lopez passed away peacefully at home the evening of Sunday, November 16, 2025, at the age of 97, surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and extended family.

Born in Ventura on January 5, 1928, he lived his entire life in Ventura. He attended Holy Cross School and Ventura High School. In his early years, he grew up in the neighborhood known as "Tortilla Flats", and vividly remembered so many memories from his youth. In June of 1950, he married Mary Hernandez, who would become the love of his life for 62 years. Together they raised their children, Rachel, Susan (Mona) and Danny.

Daniel was a proud US Army veteran, having served in World War II, where he was stationed in Japan. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal and the Army Of Occupation Medal. He was a long time employee in the Streets Maintenance Division at The City of Ventura. He was especially proud that his son, Danny and grandson, Robert, followed in his footsteps as city employees.

Daniel was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He enjoyed building model airplanes, watching sports, traveling, listening to Mexican Rancheras as his pastimes. Mary and Daniel were long time parishioners of the San Buenaventura Mission.

Daniel was predeceased by his beloved Mary, as well as his parents Pablo and Soledad, sisters, Dolores and Frances, and brothers, Raymond and Tony, and many other family members and friends. In addition to his children and their spouses Raul Perez, Carl Scheiperter, Raylene, he is survived by his grandchildren Gina, Raoul, Tania, Shaun, Robert, Danielle, and Gabrielle, 21 great grandkids, numerous family, friends and neighbors. The family will miss Nana and Tata greatly but are comforted that they are reunited and someday we will all be together again in Heaven.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 22 from 12 noon until 5:00 p.m. with a recitation of the Most Holy Rosary at 3:00 p.m. at the Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 757 East Main Street, Ventura. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025 at the Mission Basilica San Buenaventura 211 East Main Street, Downtown Ventura at 11:00 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura.
