Larry Peters, age 77, of Rembrandt, Iowa passed away August 5, 2025 after a short battle with cancer. Celebration of Life will take place Saturday, August 16, 2025 from 12:00-3:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Larry Lee Peters was born on April 1, 1948 to Eddie and Edna (Lamaak) Peters. He grew up on a farm by Peterson. When his parents moved to Storm Lake, Larry moved in with the Cliff and Arlene Matthews family where he became a beloved family member. That allowed him to continue his education at Sioux Valley where he graduated in 1966. In 1971, he obtained his business degree from Buena Vista College. On June 13, 1970, Larry and Joleen Mernin were united in marriage at St. Mary's, forming a union lasting 55 years. In 1972, they purchased their forever home in Rembrandt. Larry joined the Storm Lake unit of the Iowa National Guard serving until his honorable discharge in 1978. The family expanded in 1974 with the birth of Heather and 1977 Chad. Larry coached both of his children – softball for Heather and baseball for Chad. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, and antiquing with friends, as well as long and short trips with good friends. In 1974, Larry started his association with John Deere at Quality Equipment in Peterson. He had a 25-year career at Hultgren-Gernach (later Hultgrens then Noteboom) retiring at the end of 2017. Larry passed on August 5, leaving his wife Joleen; daughter: Heather Baier of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; son: Chad Peters of Albert City, Iowa; much loved grandchildren: Brendan Baier of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; Aric Baier of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; and Keagan Peters of Shenandoah, Iowa. Also surviving him is mother-in-law: Dorothy Mernin; sister: Donna Jackson; brothers and sisters-in-law: Linda and Mike Diehl; Joyce and John Landgraf; John and Kay Mernin; Judy Matthews Petersen; as well as nieces, nephews and many friends. Preceding him in death were his parents; brother: Donnie (Marilyn); father-in-law: John (Jack) Mernin; brother-in-law: Lee Backe; nephew: Devin Landgraf; and Larry's second family: Cliff, Arlene, and Angela Matthews and Bob Petersen. Larry was a man everyone loved.
