Larry Anthony Schepker, age 60, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away, Saturday, September 21, 2024, at his home.
He was born on April 2, 1964, in St. Louis, Mo., the son of Leroy Milburn Schepker and Dorothy Ann Renaud. He was married on June 29, 2016, at the Cole County Courthouse to Karen Lynn Steffens who survives at the home.
Larry graduated from Fort Zumwalt High School and continued his education at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Over the course of more than 30 years, he dedicated his career to Schepker Parts Supply as a salesman, where he built lasting relationships and earned the respect of his clients and colleagues. His commitment and expertise made a lasting impact on the company and those he worked with.
Larry enjoyed spending time in his garden, tending to his cactus, flowers, and vegetables with care. He loved making sure everything was well-kept and thriving. Nicknamed the "family archivist," he had a passion for researching not just family history but also Missouri history. In the kitchen, Larry was known for being a good but forgetful cook, often losing track of how much of an ingredient he'd used. Despite this, his meals were always enjoyed, and his laid-back approach brought plenty of smiles to the table. His curiosity and love for learning touched many aspects of his life.
Above all, Larry cherished his family. Whether it was rocking on the porch listening to the blues, watching crime shows or "Game of Thrones" together, or simply joking around, he deeply valued the time spent with them. He was a generous man, always quick with a laugh and eager to bring joy to those around him. His sense of humor and easygoing nature made him the heart of family gatherings, where his warmth and love were always felt. For Larry, the moments shared with loved ones were the most meaningful part of his life.
Larry is survived by his loving wife, Karen; stepson, Ben Steffens; father, Leroy Schepker; siblings, Connie Schepker, Cindy Smith (Tom Jr.), Bill Schepker (Kim), and Joe Schepker, numerous nieces, nephews, and loving brothers and sisters-in-law, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy; brother, Ronnie and his beloved dog Mead.
Visitation will be held at Freeman Mortuary from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 28, 2024.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday September 28, 2024, in the Freeman Chapel with the Reverend Steve Resner officiating.
