Larry Shanks Obituary
Larry Shanks, age 84 of Salem, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2026 in his home.
Mr. Shanks was born March 14, 1941 in Washington County, the son of Lowell "Chic" Shanks and Naomi Chastain Shanks. He was a life member of the VFW in Salem, a past state President of The Fraternal Order Eagles and was a Charter Member of the Moose Lodge of Scottsburg. Larry was a retired heavy equipment operator for Myers Construction and Triangle Construction and was also a farmer.
Mr. Shanks is survived by his daughter, Sherri Shanks of Salem, his granddaughter Sharita Lawyer and his great grandson, Nash Barnett.
Mr. Shanks is preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Allen Shanks who passed on February 26, 1995, his brother, Jerald Shanks and his parents.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 1P.M at Weathers Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 13 from 4-8P.M at the funeral home and on Saturday morning from 11A.M until the time of service. Burial will follow at Claysville Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
